THE OBJECTIVE
Make the Underworld run repeatable.
This route is built around control rather than reckless speed. Keep your spirits working, maintain a safe distance from blades and take one manageable group at a time. A slower clean run is better than losing the entire attempt to an over-pull.
The original GWMMSALE guide is based on a beginner-friendly spirit-spammer approach. This offline edition keeps the practical ideas, removes the long stream-of-consciousness narration and groups the route into decisions you can check during a real run.
LOADOUT & GEAR
Build the safety net first.
Use a Ritualist-centered spirit setup with energy support, healing, a reliable hex and protection. The exact skills can vary, but the loop depends on keeping spirits alive while you stay outside cleave range. Radiant and attunement upgrades, plus a staff with useful energy bonuses, make the opening much more forgiving.
QUEST STEPS
From entry to first Ecto
Prepare the spirit-spammer
Bring a Ritualist-based spirit build with energy support, healing spirits, a reliable hex and protection skills. Radiant and attunement upgrades help keep the rotation stable.
Enter the Underworld
Choose the campaign entry point you know best, pay the entry fee and make sure the quest is not taken accidentally before the run begins.
Create space at the stairs
Cast your energy support first, place spirits near the pull and step sideways rather than backing too far away. The goal is to keep enemies in range without taking cleave damage.
Build the first Ecto
Use the hex on priority targets, let spirits take pressure and kite in short steps. Do not push into a second blade group while your protection or energy tools are recharging.
Choose patience over speed
The second and third Ecto take safer pulls and better awareness. Keep spirits alive, watch invisible mobs and retreat before the enemies reach you.
ROAD TO 10K
First Glob of Ectoplasm
At the opening stairs, activate your energy support before moving forward. Place spirits, apply the hex and step back as soon as the group takes damage. Do not fight more than one dangerous blade group at a time; let the spirits hold pressure while you create a small amount of space.
When a blade turns toward you, summon again and kite rather than trying to out-damage it. Keep protection ready for the next pack, heal the spirits when they take focus and avoid backing so far that the enemies reset.
ROAD TO 20K+
Second and third Ecto
After the first Ecto, the route becomes a patience test. Pull one group from the edge, keep the hex active on durable targets and wait for the shadow or protection skills to recharge before committing to the next section.
Invisible mobs, Smite Crawlers and Dhuum’s spirits can punish a rushed push. If the map opens another path, choose the safer loop unless your build and experience justify the extra risk.
SURVIVAL RULES
Three habits keep the run alive
- Keep Boons and protection available before the next pull.
- Never let a blade group reach you while your spirits are out of position.
- When the run becomes unstable, kite back and reset instead of forcing damage.
QUEST COMPLETE
Take the loot, then decide whether to continue.
Once the first Ecto is secured, you can exit with a clean result or continue toward the second and third Ecto route. Keep enough inventory space for drops and remember that rare dyes, rubies and other materials can add value to the run.
